INTERCULTURALITY AND CITIZEN PARTICIPATION
Inclusion and Coexistence Models for People
VIII Annual Conference of the IOPD
19-21 November 2008
La Paz - Bolivia

GENERAL GOALS

  • To promote debate on the need for the construction of an intercultural citizenship through the gradual, inclusive participation of people of different cultural origins in the areas of policy design and individual and collective decision-making.
  • To give due importance to interculturality as a democratic practice in political and socially diversified societies in which the different identities and manifestations of social groups are fully respected and recognized, including said social groups’ active participation in the political community.
  • To incorporate debate and discussion on the revaluation of interculturality within local contexts as a new challenge for the construction of cultural values and visions, given that the role played by these contexts is becoming more and more significant in the construction of a more inclusive, impartial and intercultural citizenship.
