Since its constitution in 2001 within the framework of the 1st Annual Conference, membership of the IOPD has grown from 11 to 394. Its current membership is made up of the following:

  • 245 ASSOCIATE MEMBERS (gouvernements locaux, organismes supramunicipaux et administrations locales) local governments, supramunicipal authorities and local administrations in Europe, South and Central America, Africa and Asia.
  • 149 COLLABORATING MEMBERS associations, organizations, institutions, study and research centres, etc. in Europe, South and Central America, North America, Africa and Asia.

The IOPD has members in 38 countries: Albania, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Benin, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Italy, Luxembourg, Mali, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Uruguay and Venezuela.
