5th IOPD Distinction “Best Practice in Citizens’ Participation”

Within the framework of the 10th OIDP International Conference, held in City of Mexico on 17th November last, the 5th OIDP "Best Practices in Citizens' Participation" was awarded.

This year 18 local governments from Latin America and Europe were all candidates for the award. In September the International Jury decided that the 5th Distinction would be awarded to the experience "Participatory Budgeting Rosario" presented by Rosario (Argentina), a decision that they made public at the 10th Conference itself.

The International Jury also decided to award Special Mentions to the following two experiences:

• Generalitat de Catalunya (Spain): "Ideal-EU: integrating the drivers of e-participation at regional level".
• The Cantonal Unit of Montufar (Ecuador): "Public-Private Citizens' Participation for a Better Life".

Likewise, within the framework of the International Conference a publication was distributed amongst those attending which includes two CD's. One of the CD's contains a brief description of each of the experiences that were presented, while the other contains a more complete account of the award winning experience.
