The #JAM18 (Annual Conference of Metadecidim, the community of Decidim), includes a session of the international conference Ciutats Democráticas BCN, "Rethinking the future of the city and social transformation". The event is part of the +Biennal Programme and will be inaugurated by the Participation Councillor of Barcelona City Hall, Gala Pin and the Participation Commissioner, Fernando Pindado.

The opening keynote will be delivered by leading technologist Heather Leson, a specialist in humanitarian technologies and social entrepreneurship and Director of Data Literacy Programme at the Red Cross and Red Crescent.

The seven sessions will address the layers of the project: political, technical and technopolitical; practical examples of participation with Decidim with entities that use it, such as the Ferrer i Guàrdia Foundation, the Som Energia cooperative and the French company Open Source Politics, which builds open-source tools for participatory democracy and the future of the platform.

The JAM18 takes place at a crucial time for the Decidim project. As it has been developed as a platform for democratic participation, international interest and its adoption have been growing in several cities. At the same time, the project faces a key challenge: to shape a model of governance of its community Metadecidim.
