The International Observatory for Participatory Democracy (OIDP) and Mercociudades signed on June 5 a partnership for doing workshops for the creation of Local Observatories in Latin America. The agreement was signed during the closing ceremony of the IOPD 14th Conference held in the city of Canoas (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil). The IOPD was represented by the Commissioner for Citizen Participation and Association of the City of Barcelona by Carles Agustí and Mercociudades by Cézar Busatto, Secretary of the Prefecture of Porto Alegre. The outgoing president of the IOPD Jairo Jorge da Silva Prefeito Canoas, was present.
